Hi!

We’re getting a medium amount of interest in our first ever game night! Not sure what that means or what that will translate into. But if you like the idea… come out! Be the catalyst for helping build momentum!

When: Thursday 5/7 6pm-9pm

$20 entry per person. Kids 7-13 ($12). Pay at the door. Entry includes small buffet. Drinks available at the bar.

I’m thinking very free flowing. I’d rather play than organize. Haha! So, let’s self organize with the power of love and friendship and community. Bring your favorite game and ask somebody if they want to join you.

I’ll bring Chess, and Rumikube! So I’ll be looking for my chess players and my kubers!

No need to RSVP. Just show up.

Sesame Shrimp! A classic! Minced shrimp spread over toast and coated with sesame seeds.

I’d say this is one of my favorite apps but also criminally under rated. Crispy. Crunchy. Shrimpy. Get some!

Come eat Chicken Chop Suey with me!

Assorted veggies + Sliced Chicken Breast + in our light and savory garlic sauce!

I like it with Crispy Noodles and our Mandarin House Chili Oil!

Ten years to the day that my dad, Tat Chung “John” Law has passed away.

What a whirlwind. What a time warp. The fastest 10 years of my life! Feels like just yesterday and I miss him every day. 10 years later, I’m still blessed to hear your stories and memories of him and how he touched your lives over the 38 years running this restaurant. His love truly does live on in our hearts and minds and in each bite of food we share here at the Mandarin House.

I felt like such a kid back then, and I still do now, but somehow some way I turn 41 next week and I’ve been running this restaurant for a decade, aka a quarter of my life.

I’ve learned so much about dedication, hard work, and the power of showing up everyday. I’ve learned about the power of friendship, family and community, and how we’re all in this together and how we’re stronger together than we are apart.

So I want to thank you! For all your love and support the last 10 years. For sharing your love, your stories and your time with your families with me and us here at the Mandarin House. I’m honored to be adopted into this wonderful community. And blessed to call this little corner of the world my home.

- Much love and Many thanks!

Not sure exactly when and for how long it was Aunt Emma’s…. But that’s us! 6765 La Jolla Blvd!

Kinda cool and trippy seeing it as some place else. Feels like seeing somebody wearing our underwear….before we owned it. Haha!

Thanks Dr. Fischer for sending this to me!

If anybody got more info or photos of our history! Send them over!

Check out this ad I found from the LJ Blue Book from our inaugural year of 1977! Nuzzled right up to our friends at

As far as I know…. We’re number 4 as oldest restaurants in LJ. (Somebody correct me if I’m wrong)

#1 - Marine Room (1941)
#2 - Jose’s Courtoom (1954)
#3 - Harry’s coffee shop (1960)
#4 - Mandarin House (1977)

It’s been a great 48 years and counting! And a huge honor to be a part of this community and your lives.

It’s dumpling day! Today we make our batch of perfect imperfections.

8 people + 3 hours to crank out 500+ handmade dumplings. These are the low key hear and soul of Mandarin House. Nothing else takes more labor, more time and brings the whole kitchen team to work together on 1 task than these little delicious doughy meat pockets. I love them.

Always been handmade. From the dough to the filling. And always will be.
