Three days at a farm in Bonsall with pool hangs, giant dogs, minature horses, homemade meals, lots of laughs and a leadership team that somehow manages to be both incredibly capable and incredibly fun in equal measure.
A lot of what people experience at Communal comes from this group. The care, the consistency, the creativity, the hospitality, the calm during chaos, the attention to detail, the humor when things inevitably go sideways. It’s easy to take for granted how rare it is to build something with people who genuinely want to show up for each other.
We spent the week eating really great food, talking about life and business, walking around the farm, floating in the pool, trying new things, and laughing a lot.
Huge thank you to Scarlett for absolutely crushing every meal and to Eric for wine tasting with us with adorable twins in tow. Hero. 💛
Came home very grateful, slightly exhausted, emotionally attached to several animals, and fully convinced every leadership retreat should include farm animals & nature.🌿

Take the bus or trolley to San Diego State University Transit Center, then walk along College Avenue towards University Avenue and turn left. Continue walking along University Avenue until you reach the coffee shop.
Directions via driving/parking:
From Interstate 8, take exit 10 for Fairmount Ave and head south. Turn right onto Aldine Drive, then left onto Art Street. Turn right onto Alvarado Road and continue straight until it turns into University Avenue. The coffee shop will be on your left-hand side. There is street parking available nearby.
