Anxious is an emo/hardcore band from Fairfield County, Connecticut established in 2016. Their 2022 debut Little Green House won favor with fans and critics, paving the way for an extensive touring schedule. The ambitious sophomore follow up Bambi, set to redefine the band while still maintaining their roots. Pulling influence on everything from The Smashing Pumpkins, to Jimmy Eat World, to Animal Collective, the record delivers a refreshing and unique sonic presentation of the genre with strong songwriting at the forefront.
At C&T we have always been strong proponents of merging our passion for music & art with our passion for roasting & serving exceptional coffee. This spurred our desire to work with a great band that shares the same sentiment.
“I feel like coffee has always played a role in Anxious- we’re all coffee drinkers. We’ve always been about the coffee stop, especially on tour. But early last year when we started touring with our friend Connor- a true coffee head- that was when I started getting into specialty coffee. He made me a co-ferment cup that was just unlike anything I had ever tasted and I immediately was sent down this rabbit hole.
When we got asked if we wanted to do a collaboration with Coffee and Tea Collective, I knew that I wanted to do something fruity and funky- super out there. Their team really got what I was going for and immediately fired back with this Pink Bourbon fermented natural from Colombia. It’s truly awesome. Super winy, medium acidity, and fruit forward. I think people are going to be really into it.”

𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚
Taste: Vanilla Cream, Red Tea, Floral
Origin: Kayanza, Burundi
Altitude: 1850-2100 masl
Variety: Red Bourbon
Process: Washed
Notes from the importer:
Reaching the coffee heartland of Burundi requires flying into Bujumbura, the capital and site of the country’s only paved airport. This low-elevation region is characterized by hot, dry conditions and rice cultivation. A two-hour drive from the capital leads to the town of Kayanza, reaching the farms of the Remera community—named after the hill where they are situated—requires an additional hour of travel over rugged dirt roads.
Near the Kayanza area is located the Umoco washing station which serves as the central hub for all surrounding communities. Its name means “light” in Kirundi, Burundi’s official language. Producers typically deliver their cherries to Umoco on foot, though some utilize bicycles or motorcycles. Coffee here is grown almost entirely in full sun, and because fertilizers are often cost-prohibitive, families rely on a variety of subsistence crops, including bananas, maize, cassava, and beans.
Processing at the station involves a double fermentation method: the coffee undergoes 12 hours of wet fermentation followed by an additional 12 hours in cement tanks. The parchment is then dried for 20 to 25 days on traditional African raised beds.
These coffees thrive at exceptional altitudes ranging from 1,800 to 2,200 meters above sea level, rooted in rich red clay soils. The region borders the Kibira National Forest, where the dense canopy creates cooler temperatures and higher rainfall than other Burundian coffee regions. Known locally as the “up country,” this area also holds deep historical significance as the burial site of Burundi’s former kings, whose graves are sheltered by towering indigenous trees.

We are honored to present our upcoming Artist Series installation “every image a prayer”, by Nate Riedel.
Nate Riedel is San Diego / Los Angeles based professional cinematographer and in his words, “amateur” photographer, although we would highly beg to differ. He likes sharing his eye in a desperate attempt to not feel so alone. He feels most honest discussing thoughtful things with a sense of humor. His need to be understood is often overshadowed by his need to be funny.
Opening Reception is this Sunday March 1st
11am-2pm at the North Park Cafe.
A conversation with Nate regarding his work and upcoming installation can be found in our bio.

What people say
Coffee & Tea Collective is a coffee shop in San Diego that has been serving the community since 2010. The establishment was created with the intention of bringing people together and creating an experience that would be memorable for everyone. The cafe's design is simple yet elegant, providing a blank canvas for the community to come together and enjoy their coffee and tea.
One of the things that sets Coffee & Tea Collective apart from other coffee shops is their commitment to sourcing high-quality coffee beans. They work closely with importers who travel to the source to bring them fresh and seasonal coffees. After tasting up to 20 different coffees from one single country of origin, they select a few stand-out coffees that best represent the origin characteristic: land, variety, and season.
The roasting process at Coffee & Tea Collective is also unique. They roast their coffees lightly, putting more emphasis on the origin characteristic and relying less on roast characteristic. This results in balanced flavor, sweetness, and acidity inherent to each country of origin.
Finally, brewing great coffee requires the right tools and education, which Coffee & Tea Collective provides to its staff. This ensures that every cup of coffee or tea served is of the highest quality possible.
Overall, Coffee & Tea Collective is a must-visit for anyone looking for a great cup of coffee or tea in San Diego. Their commitment to sourcing high-quality beans, unique roasting process, and dedication to education make them stand out from other cafes in the area.
