So stoked to have Chef Sharon spend a little time in the BLAH kitchen this week to work with Chef Jaime on the specials for this weekend’s RIP!TIGER! event. When Jaime first came to us he worked under Sharon when she was Chef at T!T! before she moved over to run the kitchen at Panama 66. Jaime later took over as T!T! chef and kept the love going in the kitchen. Jaime left us for a while, but he’s back as BLAH Chef and killing it. Having them collab this week to honor T!T! is f’ing awesome. Friday at 5pm we’ll release a slew of 🐯🐯 specials including Pork Belly and Tofu Banh Mi Pizzas, Tiger Curry and Poutine Fries, Clam Chowder and Sharon’s Beeramisu.

🐯🐯 for life!

Next time your at / keep an eye out for Chef Sharon. She’s a bad ass.

One of the best parts of running TT was being able to put on all the events on the back patio with .books and so many more. These events connected community, empowered artists and made our souls happy. Hopefully we will be able to continue with these events in at when all of this is behind us. For now, thanks to Jason and all the people who made the events on the patio happens. Cheers to you.

Stay safe.

We’ve had a lotta great people in that kitchen, but these 3 created what was the soul of TT. Chefs Aaron, Sharon and Nick. Chefs 1, 2 & 3.
Chef Aaron was a jackass, a wonderfully creative and wonderfully loving jackass. His food was always mind blowing and always meaningful. He didn’t cook to be fancy. He cooked to feed people and make them happy, and sometimes he was a little fancy 😉 He was our OG chef at BLAH and was the creative mastermind who took our sandwiches & beer concept to the next level. He was chaotic, calm, firm, gentle and a pain in our asses. We loved him. Chef Sharon took the job and stepped in and cleaned up after Hurricane Aaron headed East. She was the responsible mom these crazy kids needed. She taught them how to make tasty food from the heart, source responsibly, understand why less is more, and, what most cooks don’t always get, be able to pay the bills at the end of the day. As we all know, kitchens run on some damn thin margins. When we opened P66 Sharon moved to The Park to become Executive Chef of what has become our craziest project to date. Always willing to step back in at TT to give it some motherly love by helping with costing, getting recipes back on track, training new chefs, stepping in last minute make sausages with or serving food to Will Ferrell in a parking structure, she would do anything for TT. The gap left behind when Sharon moved was a big one and we didn’t know who would fill it. Then Nick spoke up. Little did we know the answer was in the back making charcuterie part time. Yep, the classically trained Chef who wasn’t interested in taking full time hours because he needed time to watch baseball. Seriously. Nick stepped up and was a true chef. All he wanted was to create amazing food and teach younger cooks how to become chefs. Not just giving them directions, but truly teaching them the how and the why. And even the what if. He believed in his kitchen everyone gets to be creative, but everyone washes dishes, organizes the walk-ins and everyone takes pride in where they work.

Aaron and Nick are missed dearly. They changed all of us for the better.

Enough sobbing.

Be safe.

Tyler Childers has lost some “fans” for making this statement. We respect him for this choice. The choice to try to empathize. The choice to care. For every 10 fans he loses, it’s worth it if just 1 opens up and listens. Because that one becomes an ally. Cheers to Tyler. Oh, and go buy/download his new album and listen to the final track. Show him he has some new fans. The world needs more Tyler’s.

We stand with Gavin Newsom in his struggles to keep our state on the path to healing, but we need guidance from the top down. We knew our fate was sealed when 45 spoke these words. He told us we were not his priority. He told us it was ok if we failed because someone else would take our place. Well, we have 45 days, sir. 45.

“I’ve heard 3 percent could be lost, and you could go as high as 10 or 11 percent, but they’ll all come back in one form of another. Might be a different restaurant. But it’s gonna be a great business for a lot of people. We’re making it easy for people — look, what we’re doing in terms of loans, what we’re doing in terms of salaries, they’ll all come back. It may not be the same restaurant, it may not be the same ownership, but they’ll all be back.”

Well this sucks. Took my last pics on the way out.

After nine years, we're closing Tiger!Tiger!

Covid-19 did us in.
Running a restaurant historically has razor-thin margins. Attempting to run a restaurant in the middle of a pandemic with mounds of debt piling up is nonsensical. We tried many different paths for this business over the last six months and each one took us down a dead end. With the end of our lease approaching fast, we all really believe we had no other choice.

Tiger!TIger! was a special place for us. Being included on the Eater 38 our entire nine years, making the Draft Magazine's 100 Best Beer Bars in America year after year after year, going to DDD Flavortown and more. Hey, freaking Will Ferrell himself poured beers at our bar. All these things were awesome, but making all the friends was the best part.

We are sad and angry and heartbroken and also, weirdly relieved because it's been so super tough and after all the anguish and stress and hard-decision making and regret, we can now make our peace with it.

We will miss cooking for — and eating with —y’all, we will miss sharing records with all our amazing DJs, and will we miss our fantastically mischievous staff.

It was great while it lasted.

We’ll be sharing old pics and some occasional rants over the next couple weeks. Keep your ears on.

Cheers
