My good friend Sam came to the âIslandâ last week and met me at my office-Bali Hai.
I met him when he was 19 and I was 21. He was playing drums in a band called the Outriders! They would play at Kellyâs pub by SDSU and he would have to stand outside when they took breaks.
He, many years later, played drums for my band.
Heâs been in the food/drink biz his whole life, because his father was.
Sam is easily one of my favorite and most respected people I know.
We had a drink & talk.
He had nice things to say about his visit to Fathom.
For me, itâs like having Anthony Bourdain saying, I dig what youâre doing.
We work hard at keeping Fathom what it is. A comfortable place for locals and a surprising spot for people visiting. It is not easy in this day and age to run a restaurant even if it is just a glorified hotdog stand on a Fishing Pier. I would like to thank you all, for understanding what it is we do , getting it. Fathom may not be for everyone, but if you are one of the people that it is for, and you continue to come, thank you so much. It means the world to me and our team ďżźďżź

Am I too much of a dick? Probably. 13 years of blood, sweat & tears running my restaurant and anyone-literally ANYONE can write a Yelp review that affects my ratings.
You came to a sausage and burger place.
Our food is not average? F**k you!
Dude butt hurt because I donât sell seafood? We are not a seafood place!!
Even though we have a shrimp sandwich.
This was a conscious choice.
Shortly out of high school I worked at Point Loma Seafoods for a year, and Mitchâs Sea Food is amazing also!
Why would I want to compete with history and friends!
I hate Yelp.
I love most of you. Thank you all that understand what we do.
