Not to be dramatic, but the Asparagus Pizza is leaving us this weekend.
Lemon panna, mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano, wood fired, the kind of pizza that makes you wish spring lasted longer. Chef’s rotating it out, last call. Make your reservations in our bio.

Roasted carrots with a spiced agave glaze, torn stracciatella, crushed peanuts, and a whisper of preserved lemon. New to the menu and already earning its place as a fave.

11 years of feeding this city, celebrating with this city, and growing alongside this city. 🌊
What started as a dream has become something we couldn’t have imagined. A place where memories are made nightly, where the pasta is always homemade, and where the love around the table is as real as the food on it.
Thank you, San Diego. Here’s to many more. 🤍

What people say
Italian restaurants are known for their delicious and authentic cuisine that is loved by people all over the world. Catania SD, located on Girard Avenue in San Diego, is a perfect example of an Italian restaurant that offers guests an unforgettable dining experience.
The restaurant's location on the top floor of La Plaza center provides panoramic ocean views that add to the relaxed and elevated setting. The vision of Whisknladle Hospitality owner Arturo Kassel and Culinary Partner/Director Ryan Johnson, who were inspired by a two-week, 1,400 mile road trip throughout Italy years ago, is evident in every aspect of the restaurant.
Catania SD's menu features a rotating selection of fresh crudo, house-made pastas, and handcrafted pizzas that are crisped to perfection by Beatrice - the restaurant's 5,000 pound wood burning oven. The handcrafted desserts overseen by Whisknladle Hospitality Corporate Chef Jojo Rossi, a first-generation Sicilian-American complete the menu.
Overall, Catania SD is an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Italian coastal cuisine in a beautiful setting with exceptional service.
