Looking back at a big year in our history. 🏪
In 1998, we opened our fifth Yucaipa location on March 4, returning to the valley where our story began 62 years earlier. On December 9, we opened a replacement supermarket in Loma Linda to better serve local customers. By the end of the year, our family had grown to 112 locations.
A proud moment in our journey.

Store 208 in Ontario had the honor of presenting a $5,000 donation through Stater Bros. Charities to Road Dogs and Rescue, a nonprofit focused on rescuing and rehabilitating medical bulldogs and puppies born with birth defects.
Their team works tirelessly to promote love and compassion for all animals, especially those they affectionately call “Lovable Lemons.” As a French bulldog owner, this organization is especially meaningful to me.

In April 1988 Stater Bros. Markets opened a 118,000 square foot Produce and Deli Distribution Center at our headquarters in Colton.
The all-modern facility featured advanced systems that included controlled banana ripening rooms that were the first of their kind in the food industry.
This center was highlighted later that year at our Annual Managers Meeting and marked an important moment in our continued investment in quality, freshness, and service for our customers.
