So we’re near SDSU right? And a lot of you kids like to come play pool & coronas & ciders. But nowwww yall be graduating & this weekend we felt that celebratory love big time.

ITS STORMYS LAST WEEKEND!
If ya don’t know, stormzilla is the little sister of Will (yours truly/owner) and she’s been around since literally the day we got the keys to this ol’ bar. But now she’s metaphorically hittin’ the road.
Stormy helped paint this place, made the collage on our back wall of all those San Diego institutions & moments, and has kept me in check with healthy doses of encouragement, support & tough reality when necessary, heh.
If you’ve been lucky enough to get to know her over the last few years, you know she’s an incredibly hard worker, generous as heck butttt doesn’t not put up with yalls shenanigans. With that being said she told me to tell you to come give her one last bit of attitude tonight & Sunday, when she’s hostin’ all day happy hour, so that she can dish it right on back.

YEEEEHAAAAAAW TRIVIAAAA!
If you’ve been living under a rock for the last 2 & a half years, we’ve had trivia EVERY Wednesday night with the homies from hosting, mocking your team names & dropping tasty morsels of useless information between questions for your big giant brains to eat up.
Top 3 teams walk with cold hard cash (that means bar credit to us).
Kinda wild that haven’t posted a flyer of trivia night in literally 2 years but it is often our 2nd, if not busiest night of the week.
People can hate all they want on trivia & silly weekday bar events, but the loyalty yall show us & each other by meeting up weekly for this, what we’ll call, ritual, is special, man. You see your best buds for a couple hours, imbibe & eat together, and commune for just a bit to break up your week.

THREE YEARS IN EXISTENCE - LETS PARTY, THIS SATURDAY!
Mannnnn, remember when we were closed on Tuesdays? Sometimes Mondays? Idk,
was it Wednesdays? Or when we had ONLY burgers, then NO burgers, then burgers again? Or how about that time we had a pumpkin carving contest for Halloween, or the yacht rock band that played for someone’s birthday? Idk. There’s been a lot of “times”.
This bar has been here for literally 60 years, and we’ve been operating for 5% of that time. And mannn has it been REAL.
So this Saturday - COME PARTYYYYY. Open regular hours! The homies & (of Surefire Soul Ensemble) start spinning all vinyl sets at 5, while .sd is bringing the HEAT with incredible skewers on the bincho in the backyard. Oh and also, we’ve got a bunch of custom, 3 year pint glasses to keep when ya buy a beer.
We’re just thinking ping pong, good music & good homies are a great way to bring in this next year. Thanks for all the love, hope to party with you on Saturday!

THE WEDGE
Our wedge is unreal. If you havent had it, get your priorities straight. You need your vegetables. Even your lettuce and cherry tomato’s are covered in a housemade dilly ranch dressing with big chunks of bleu cheese, bacon, everything bagel seasoning & fresh sprigs of dill, gosh dang it, at least you’re eating your vegetables.
Nah but forreal, the wedge has been bastardized for too long! and we kinda think we’ve got the best in town. It needs to be COLD, CRISP & FRESH. So much so we even refrigerate the plates. As ridiculous as it sounds, it makes a difference. It’s the details, baby!
So get your priorities straight, come have some veggies.

Well for the first time in almost 2 years, we’ve got a position open!
We’re on the hunt for a bartender, one that is part time but flexible (big ask), no attitude (bigger ask) and has a solid knowledge of beer, wine a & most importantly just “gets” what hospitality really means aka you have the capability of impersonating a therapist.
But for real. We feel that being a good neighbor is one of our most important responsibilities. We hope that if you throw your hat in the ring, cheap college kids pounding high life’s don’t bother you, entitled big spenders don’t bother you, you get that blue collar plumbers & white collar CEOs all have a place here, and you are happy to be a conduit of hospitality through all of that. For $18/hr, plus tips.

Haven’t talked about this old bar in a while.
If you’re new here, maybe you don’t know about our storied history. These walls have held a bar since the 60’s, originally being called The Quaff Barrel. It’s been a bunch since. Kelly’s, StateHouse, Java Joes, McMurphys, & before us, the Ugly Dog. Probably a few in there that I’m missing.
But now we’re 6344’s proud publicans. The floors are original to the general store that was here in the 30’s, so they squeak and creak. The pool tables have been free for as long as we can remember, so we kept it that way, and sometimes the ceiling leaks after we’ve ran the a/c for a while- but hey, at least we’ve got a/c!
We’re not trying to do anything ground breaking or reinvent any wheels- just want to be good stewards of our history while writing a new chapter that our neighborhood can be proud of.
Last week was 3 years operating for Majorette, come pull up a chair & cheers to the future!

WE’VE GOT COMPANY, YALL!
Tomorrow night, the homies from .sd are taking over our kitchen. From 4pm til late, we’re letting ‘em take over our little kitchen and celebrate THEIR first birthday by slinging some very dope Asian inspired fare from the kitchen window.
We haven’t done a popup / takeover in a minute, but we’re honored when anyone feels that our little bar would be the perfect spot for their celebration. We need more of that in SD, especiaaaally on this side of town.
We’ve brought in the required drinking materials (Red Horse & San Miguel) and we’ll be slinging some very dope cold natural wine to pair.
Additionally, the homies .sd will be on the 1’s & 2’s, keeping all our booties moving through the night.
& lastly, included in the party is the launch of .us, a new apparel company celebrating the hard work that we all put in to bring good things to your table.
We WILL be slinging lunch as normal, from 12pm-3pm, & the majorette crew will be running the bar as normal all day- but just be prepared to have your minds blown if you come for dinner!

ICE OUT 1/30
feels so lame & selfish to be posting really like, anything these days. But what’s happening in our country demands some kind of acknowledgment.
This Friday, there’s a nationwide economic blackout happening. And while we’d love to participate, the reality is we gotta pay rent in 2 days. & so do our people. So we WILL be open.
But with that being said, we’ll be donating a portion of sales from us & our sister businesses & to Border Angels. A local non profit that focuses on immigration reform, migrant rights and the prevention of migrant deaths along the border.
All our hearts are heavy but we’ve got a certain responsibility to be a place in our community where hopefully yours can find a little respite.
