After 24 incredible years, it’s time to say goodbye.

In 2002, we opened the doors of Hancock St. Cafe with a simple dream: to create a warm, welcoming place for our San Diego community to gather over good food and good company. What we never could have imagined was just how deeply this little café would become part of so many lives — first dates, weekly rituals, post-work decompressions, family traditions, celebrations, and even quiet moments alone with a glass of wine or cold beer!

To our loyal customers, neighbors, regulars who became friends, and friends who became family — thank you. Thank you for walking through our doors day after day, for supporting a small local business, and for letting us be part of your routines and your memories. Your kindness, stories, laughter, and encouragement are what kept us going for nearly a quarter of a century.

This decision did not come easily. The reality of today’s economy and the continued rise in operational costs have made it impossible for us to continue in a sustainable way.

Hancock St. Cafe will officially be closing in May 2026. While our hearts are heavy, we are incredibly proud of what we built and grateful for every single moment we were able to serve this community.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for 24 unforgettable years. San Diego — you gave us so much more than we ever gave you.
