I walked into this place first time a couple of weeks ago, literally kicking the sidewalk and complaining like the child I am that it was a month before an upcoming trip to Mexico and all the goodness contained therein … walked into this little brutalist courtyard and started laughing, felt like a wee little corner of CDMX right there down the hill in that fu***ng Barrio.

Alchemy, tucked away down the hill, I cannot recommend it enough, the food is incredible, the c**ktails worthy of strong comment, and the staff is, well, they’re fu***ng hospitable, professional, human, and very obviously dumping their fu***ng guts into the place.

They’ve got my vote, all around … and happily, this Memorial Day, we’ll all get a chance to sample their goods here at CP. Eduardo, the owner, actually from CDMX, is going to come cook for us, hopefully have some c**ktails with us, and I am positive laugh with us - we share the sentiment that it’s the very best thing to do, laugh.

Mark it down, come spend some time with us, and them, and get your asses down there when you can. It is fu***ng delightful.

Christine Quillen, otherwise known as the keeper of the portal to all the goodness in the world, would be your best friend if you came in for a pint of the MBC pineapple wheat. It is a surprising ray of summertime, and at $6 per, can you really afford not to? Every one is, metaphorically speaking, a mile closer to island time for her, and I can’t think of a human who deserves all good things more.

Happy Hump Day, people, let’s roll over it like it isn’t there, and down the other side the carefree part of the week, and then do our parts by giving zero f***s, the contemporary and more scatological way to say the same thing, carefree, without care or concern, well beyond the province of having the energy to give a single rusty f**k. Let us go there and stay, please.

Man we’ve got some creative, blue collar souls here these days … I can’t express how smiley it makes me to come in, day after day, and get to hear one or more of these whackadoodles greet me with an earnest “hey you know what we should do?”

They make everything better. I am positive, however, no one could make a better lemon drop than this lemon cordial presents. Can’t wait to see what they do with the orange cordial, but in the meantime, you totally should.

We’re getting back to our roots here, baby step by baby step, golden rule of said roots being an ardent refusal to buy that which we can make, kitchen and bar alike.

Adele, a queen by any royal measure, put her head together with Caiti - or Claire, however you think - and those two pipe hitters came up with a spritz of our own to replace Mommenpop - zero fu***ng shade, they’re awesome - and now on tap, CP Spritz - hibiscus, pineapple, aloe … you totally fu***ng should. It is for sure what’s up.

I have this friend, and boy howdy is he a great one, Timmy. He used to live in the hood. And he’d text me on the reg with “hey bro, save a c**k for me, in incoming.” I’ll never not laugh at that.

To be fair, he’s also the guy that saw my table saw had a safety feature that cut off the blade at contact with skin and his take on that was to have all our guy friends to come over and drop, one by one, our junk down on to the blade to make it stop. I said - I hope obviously - I’d never do that and asked him why he would and his answer was “it’s not that I want to do it, I just want to see who won’t.”

Goes without saying, I am a man rich in friends.

Sister Adele very nearly burst her soul on this one, and I really couldn’t be more proud. Of it and her. She did gods work on this one. Think it’s maybe the most ambitious c**ktail menu we’ve put out, to date, and I can’t fu***ng wait to put it in front of you tomorrow.

There have been tears, long days and no small
amount of frustration over the past two weeks - necessary ingredients I think, to guiding anything worthwhile, but it’s been more fun than a pocketful of clowns, too, but then long hard days almost always are, and the result, to my mind, is worth every bit of all of it. I’ll plant my flag on that hill and die on it too.

Come by tomorrow and put your hands on one or two, I can promise you you’ll be glad you did, if only to see the big happy smile plastered across Adele’s face while you do … labor of love doesn’t really quite cut it on this one. You very much went yard on this one, Sister. **ktails

Well, it’s that time, time for a menu change … not quite Spring yet, but when it’s pounding down 80° days in January and February, you realize it’s Spring in all but calendar and you make a change.

We went a little bit deep this time around, and we are insanely excited about it, and proud of it too. Captain Aaron outdid himself, and we seriously cannot wait to put these plates in front of you, starting tonight.

It is, in fact, an embarrassment of riches to get to have two Pliny the Younger days, and we sure won the lottery this year.

It’s a special day for us, well beyond a glass of beer. We get to go back to the start, and somehow it seems that mostly come from you humans who pile in the place.

Our first keg went fast, though not quite the fastest yet … we’d like to ask your help in taking another swing at the record. 1.0 went just under 2.5 hours, and we’ll need to dip below 2 hours to set a new bar.

Let’s bang this keg like a drum, if we float her in under 2 hours, I’ll pick up the whole tab for the person orders the last one.

As usual, we’ll tap her at 2 pm, this Saturday, 2/28 … last Last Chance for the good stuff, and the smiles and community that always seems to come along for the ride.

We’ll see you Saturday, and I promise you we’re already smiling about it.
