The High Dive has received mixed reviews in local newspapers. A review from the San Diego Union-Tribune in February praised the restaurant for its "appealing food and drink offerings" and "laid-back atmosphere," but mentioned that service could be slow. However, a more recent review from San Diego CityBeat in May criticized The High Dive's service, saying it was "slow and disorganized."
Customer opinions of The High Dive on various online platforms are also divided. Some customers have raved about the food and drinks, with one Yelp reviewer describing the burger as "the best I've ever had." Another Yelp reviewer was disappointed with the portion sizes, stating that they were "incredibly small for the price."
There were mixed reactions to the happy hour specials as well. While some customers appreciated them, others felt that they weren't substantial enough or didn't offer enough variety.
Overall, while some patrons have had positive experiences at The High Dive since it opened, others have been underwhelmed by either their food or service. It's worth trying out for yourself if you're in the area, but keep your expectations realistic- it may not be a winner for everyone.
