Ten years ago, I was just a girl who loved matcha and had a dream to open San Diego‘s first Matcha café.

I didn’t know how to steam milk. English was my second language. I was shy. Unsure. Figuring it out in real time. But I cared deeply. And this community gave me space to grow.

Over the last decade, I’ve literally grown up inside this business.

I’ve learned how to lead through uncertainty.
How to pivot without losing identity.
How to build something that doesn’t depend on chaos to survive.
How to evolve without abandoning who I am.

Entrepreneurship isn’t linear. It’s wild. It’s instinctual. It doesn’t sit neatly in a cubicle. It stretches you into roles you didn’t know you were capable of holding.

And I’ve allowed myself to evolve with it.

Not because I had to.
But because growth demands it.

The woman running Holy Matcha today is steadier. More confident. More grounded. More protective of what matters — and more ambitious about what’s possible.

Ten years ago, you gave a young founder a chance.

Ten years later, I’m still here. Stronger. Clearer. And more in love with matcha than ever before.

Oh hi!

We are celebrating 10 years in march and would love to partner with a few brands for goodie bags & also host a few pop ups on the weekend of our anniversary.

To reach the tea room located on University Avenue in San Diego, there are different options for transportation. For public transport, you can take the bus and get off at the University Ave & Grim Avenue stop. Alternatively, you can take the trolley and get off at the Park and Market Station, which is about a 15-minute walk away from the tea room.

If you choose to drive, you can take the I-5 South and exit onto CA-94 East toward downtown. Follow signs for 25th Street and continue onto Broadway. Turn left on Park Boulevard, then right on University Avenue. The tea room will be on your right-hand side.

There is also street parking available near the tea room. However, it may be limited during peak hours.
