The Ploughman's Grilled Cheese is a favorite for a reason! What does the name mean? Well, the British ploughman's lunch of bread, cheese, and fresh or pickled onion has been around officially since the 1950's but likely has been served since antiquity. With cheddar cheese, sumac onions, feta cheese, and sliced apple on sourdough, it is easy to understand why this is a beloved combination! Plus, this is such an easy way to partake in Meatless Mondays!

Guess what we were up to Monday night?
Getting recognized by the City of Carlsbad City Council for completing certification as a California Green Business! Thanks to Environmental Innovations Inc. for shepherding us through the 82 separate measures we had to meet as a restaurant to meet the state's stringent standards 🤪 !
Already a partner in the City's EcoEats program, which aims to reduce food waste from eateries, our entire ethos as a company is built around the value of frugality, passed down from our French farming family heritage.
Our café furniture and décor are vintage, our plates and utensils are thrifted and of course reusable, and most of our kitchen equipment is re-used. We operate in the best tradition of French bakeries where nothing goes to waste, and yesterday's baguettes and croissants are repurposed as crisps, croutons, breadcrumbs and bread pudding 😋.
Here is a photo of our cohort of other businesses honored that night - go !
