We are so grateful to the National City School District for the kind invitation to be part of such a fun and inspiring community event! 🎉☀️
From serving up refreshing lemonade 🍋🥤 to cheering on all of the incredible runners, today was filled with smiles, energy, and so much joy! Our Chick-fil-A Cow 🐄💃 had the BEST time dancing, taking pictures, and spreading happiness throughout the event!
A huge THANK YOU to all of the families, students, and community members who stopped by and made today so memorable. ❤️ Your support and excitement mean the world to us!

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mayra and the entire STAR/PAL team for allowing Chick-fil-A Mile of Cars National City to be part of such an inspiring and impactful event at the Young Women’s Conference honoring Women’s History Month. It was truly an honor to support a space dedicated to empowering young women and celebrating strong, influential leaders in our community. Each speaker brought a unique and powerful perspective that left a lasting impression:
Chief Christie Calderwood, Chief of Police for the City of Carlsbad, shared her journey of leadership and dedication, representing not only her 18 years of service but also the importance of perseverance and integrity in law enforcement. Her presence showed young women what it looks like to lead with strength and purpose in positions of authority.
Chief Magda Fernandez of the Port of San Diego Harbor Police inspired attendees as a trailblazer—the first Latina to hold her position. Her focus on officer wellness, recruitment, and community engagement highlighted the importance of leading with compassion while breaking barriers and creating opportunities for future generations.
Chief Probation Officer Tamika Nelson stood as a powerful example of leadership and progress as the first African American woman to hold her role in San Diego. Her work in rehabilitation and guiding both adults and youth toward better paths reinforced the impact of second chances, accountability, and mentorship.
The special guest speaker, Angelica Robles, delivered a deeply moving and unforgettable message. From her experiences as a former undercover agent to her journey of overcoming personal trauma, she demonstrated incredible resilience. Her story, as shared in her book Through These Brown Eyes, reminded everyone that our past does not define us—it can instead become the very foundation that builds our strength and purpose.
Thank you again, Mayra, for creating such a meaningful event and for allowing us to be a part of it. We are grateful for the opportunity to support and witness the empowerment of so many young women who will undoubtedly go on to make a difference in their communities.

📚 Read Across America at Palmer Way Elementary!
Today the Chick-fil-A Mile of Cars team had the joy of visiting Palmer Way Elementary to read to two kindergarten and two first-grade classes. It was so much fun seeing the students excited about stories and celebrating the joy of reading.
Thank you to the PTA and Principal Dr. Leticia Segura for the warm welcome and for supporting opportunities that inspire young readers. Reading helps children build imagination, confidence, and a foundation for lifelong learning. 📖✨
