For the past 17 years, Hooleys Public House has been proud to call La Mesa home. It has been our honor to be your happy hour hangout, the place where milestones were celebrated, games were cheered, friendships were made, and St. Patrick’s Day traditions were born. Since opening our doors in 2009, this community has felt like family—and we are endlessly grateful for the memories we’ve shared.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the upcoming closure of Hooleys Public House in La Mesa. Following the sudden and unexpected closure of Macy’s, Grossmont Center revised its renovation plans and has scheduled our building for demolition in April. While this chapter is coming to an end, we are actively exploring potential locations for relocation and remain hopeful for the future.
Until then, we will continue doing what we love best—serving delicious, scratch-made food, perfectly poured pints of Guinness, and the warm hospitality you’ve come to expect—right up until our final day on Sunday, March 29, 2026. We hope to see you often in the months ahead, and we’re planning one final, unforgettable Hooleyfest on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th.
To our guests: thank you. Your loyalty, laughter, and support have been the foundation of our success and the reason we’ve been able to serve this community for nearly two decades.
To our incredible team—past and present: thank you for your dedication, passion, and heart. Hooleys is what it is because of you, and we are beyond grateful for everything you’ve given.
We’re pleased to share that Hooleys Public House in Rancho San Diego (2955 Jamacha Road, El Cajon, CA 92019) will continue serving guests for many years to come, and we look forward to welcoming you there. In the meantime, we invite you to join us often during our final months as we celebrate 17 incredible years in La Mesa.
Céad míle buíochas—a hundred thousand thanks.
