🌞NEW SUMMER ITEMS🌞

OK friends, it's that time of the year when we want to go for a swim, and a good reminder is, the Stingray Shuffle. We thought!? -Kinda a cute name for our summer drinks! For our summer drinks, I was thinking of what feels like summer?!? Immediatly strawberries came to mind but of course with an Ultreya twist to it. I thought back to my time in south east Asia and one of my favorite flavors is lemongrass. It smells good, it adds a very nice herbal and zest without to much zing and its a nice mellow easy drinking. We made a batch of strawberry lemongrass and paired it with a latte, a matcha, and a sproda (espresso +soda water). And we're loving the flavor and we hope you do too-it's sunshine-it's zen-it's smooth. We also made a delicious salted cream cheese cold foam for the season and it's honestly so thick and creamy and tastes so great on our summer drinks!

NEW SEASONAL CREAM CHEESE
-so we've had seasonal cream cheese at OB location for awhile an thought-its time for College shop to get the same love. Now at both locations you can add a seasonal cream cheese! Currently chive cream cheese and also chili crunch. It's perfectly paired with our bagels from (shout out NOMADs). Also great addition to a sandwich or on toast.

COLD BREW!!
We always have our house cold brew- which we change seasonally, but we decided to add a 2nd option. Ethiopia Gatta Anaerobic cold brew. This coffee is insanely vibrant, fruit forward (strawberry, pineapple) a very juicy mouthfeel and smooth. Pair it with a little milk or cold foam and it has a little strawberry milk taste to it. We only have a limited amount of this coffee. We also sell retail bags of beans of this (purple label). If you love fruity coffees, or interested in expanding your pallet I highly recommend giving it a try!

PASTRIES!
-all of our pastries our made by local bakers and our pastry partners are awesome! Currently at College + OB is HIJA DE MAIZ-and some new pastries you'll see this month will be -chocolate croissants, corn cookies, morning buns and pride conchas.

in OB we always have Little Lion scones-Saturdays and Mondays
PRIMAS PASTRIES-Friday and Sundays as well!

Hi!! We have some fresh and new items for yall!!
At COLLEGE LOCATION-seasonal cream cheeses have arrived!!! Put some delicious chive or chili crunch cream cheese on your bagels or toast!!! It’s gooood!! Also both locations are serving an additional COLD BREW!! Ethiopia Gatta anearobic. It’s soo juicy-smooth and pineapple strawberry notes and is great black and if you add milk or cold foam-it’s giving strawberry milk!!

STRAWBERRY 🍓 LEMONGRASS house syrup 😱 and SALTED CREAM CHEESE THICC COLD FOAM? we diddddd. This house made syrup is giving peace and zesty and bright juicy strawberry. But subtle enough to not take away from the actual matcha or espresso. And if you add the cold foam-unforgettable experience. It’s good friends. Drop the 1st week of JUNEEEEEE. It’s named the STINGRAY SHUFFLE cause we wanna remind everyone to shuffle out into the salty 🌊 and don’t stomp right onto a sting ray 😳. For now enjoy 1 or 2 last dirty fridge cig lattes before we put them in our drink vault.SEEE yah soooon 🌞⭐️🤠

BIG NEWS YALL. We have been low key celebrating as a team together because we have several GRADUATES and some team leaving to pursue the next chapter of life. Congrats to CARO, FAITH, QUINN-and also although JULIAN has graduated he is also on to the next chapter pursuing his passion for marketing and language.

I can’t say enough good things thing about this college team who have all worked for ultreya long term through school. To see them work hard at school, and work and navigating life. I know that they will be crushing it at the next avenue of life and I feel so grateful they spent time working at the cafe and serving this community. For some of them, this is their last week 😭. For a few they will be around through summer but either way give them some love next time you see them. And yes we are totally crying in the club as we will miss them. But don’t stop coming because we still have a stacked an amazing crew that will still be working with us who are just as amazing.

Thank you squad-this is a team I’ll remember. Cheers to the next chapter ♥️🌞

HI!!-so Saturday is the 5k. Who is welcome to come?
-walkers-joggers-runners-racers. Walk or run any distance you want. We will be set up at 8:30 to meet. Stretch from 8:40-8:45 and then go our distance. We will meet back in the parking lot for cold brew and a small giveaway at 930/945 to hang for a bit and we will be packing up and leaving by 10:30 (so we can go to our college shop and make mini figures for our moms! See our post about the event).
-again this is not a race or organized event. It is a fun run /run club style with people to enjoy being outside. There’s no winner/no rules (except don’t be a jerk). Just go have fun and meet someone new. This is our first one so we have no idea what we’re doing to be honest. We’re just showing up and letting it roll. Please bring your own water. Bring a cup for cold brew. And as recommend don’t bring your dog. Wear any piece of ultreya merch and get a second entry to our giveaway. Also we’d love a head count please joint our poll to see if you’re coming.

Firstly, Happy Mother's Day weekend

We are so excited for the fun events this weekend!-Lets start first with our first Run club Saturday May 9th at 8:30 am at south shores parking lot at mission bay-choose to run 5k or walk whatever distance feels comfortable. No dogs are allowed on this part of the bike path-and this is not an organized event-meaning we aren't pulling permits for a 5k-this is genuinely a fun community run event and we want to make sure there isn't chaos with us taking over the path and we are kind and considerate of others sharing the path. I will have a few jugs of cold brew to share at the end in the parking lot-please bring a mug or cup. The intention of the run is just to share being outdoors with the Ultreya community and meet new people. we are aiming for *8:30-10:30 start and end time :)

Also Saturday May 9th- at COLLEGE AVE Ultreya we have the cutest MINI FIGURINE w/legos starting at 9am. Sofia & Vanessa (mother and daughter duo) will be set up with a table for you to create a MINI FIG of your mom or grandma or whoever you want and also a surprise vending of accessories for the mini figs-$12 for 1 or 2 for $20-DADS bring your kids!!!! This is a thoughtful and unique way to make the woman in your life smile.

SUNDAY at our OCEAN BEACH Ultreya-MOTHERS DAY FLOWER pop up. Premade arrangements, build your own bouquet and more with FLORERIA XOCHI-math 10th-9-1 at ocean beach location only. Fresh and beautiful to bring to mom along with a coffee!

Also- dont forget we have a sister space called THE LIL PARLOR -1781 Sunset Cliffs blvd-next to our OB shop that has the cutest books and gifts-perfect for birthdays and gifts for moms. To my 1st baby the college location.happy early bday. 8 years ago when I signed the lease we were able to inherit and use hand me down espresso equipment and have them refurbished. I couldn’t afford the bells and whistles of brand new. It goes to show you can make great coffee and build amazing community and train staff on equipment that isn’t a fortune. 8yrs later I’m so proud we could give the college shop some well deserved upgrades. Our last espresso machine we had for 8 years was a work horse-so we upgraded to a newer (still used) refurbished la marzocco we bought from a new friend . It’s going to give us so much more consistency. We also upgrade our grinders at both locations. We are so locked in. Staff meeting yesterday and the crew is feeling confident and excited continue serving yall. Thank you to everyone who continues to support ultreya, our staff and root for us. Big shout out to from the espresso machine install and grinder. Cheers 🌞🥰🤌🏽

SO EXCITED-we have several new coworkers/staff at college shop and some of our team is graduating 👏🏼 and onto the next chapter. So we are touching base /tightening up/and working together to continue giving our best to our guests and community. On top of that….. we are beyond excited to upgrade som of our equipment. It’s been 8 years since we’ve been able to afford to update some equipment. So 5/2 early close at noon to get it done. Don’t worry we will be back Sunday 7-4 regular hours 🌞♥️come hang Saturday b4 noon to keep us busy.

DATE CHANGE!! Originally Saturday 5/2 has now changed to 5/9! This is going to be a very very chill gathering. It is not an organized event and ran like a run club. We will meet in the parking lot of south shores mission bay at 8:30 and you can run/walk. There is a path we will run and turn around at (map to come). The point is to run with community and we want to be respectful of everyone else on the bike path, and reminder this isn’t a race just a fun little run. Afterwards we will have a few gallons of cold brew to share so please bring a cup. More details to come.

As someone who has traveled a good amount, I’m always looking forward to being in nature the most and seeing how amazing all of the plants and mushrooms and animals and the whole ecosystem works together to provide resources and beauty. How amazing that we get coffee and tea from nature and also the growers who nurture these plants with love and care. How we treat this earth matters and the resources we take up and don’t take up. I hope as a business we can continue more ways to be resourceful in sustainability that@matters and makes an impact. #🌞

WE HAD AN AMAZING WEEKEND!! So glad we got to meet so many amazing people! And experience so many new things and meet producers and be part of the global coffee community. I’m always reminded it’s always about everyone along the journey who makes this industry and it’s about working together to strengthen the industry as a whole. It’s not about competition but about supporting each other for the greater good of sustainability, human connection, and taking care of the plant we love coffee. Yall.

For those of you who are new here! 👋🏽 hi I’m Dani! I opened ultreya In 2018 and previously was a barista since 2006 around San Diego. I wanted to have a space where I could feature other coffee roasters, have a neighborhood hang out spot and do what I love. I didnt have money for a big beautiful buildout or even really to find the perfect spot. The college shop has always been a hard spot to do business. A IYKYK a “hidden gem” but is a big spot for the locals. I did my best to keep going a there has been so many interactions of the college OB until I finally dialed in the vibe. We started roasting in 2020 and going on trips to Mexico and Peru to meet producers and really lock-in in our roasting program. Covid was a massive hit (to us alll) but we came through it. I was finding ways to grow so we hosted lots of events and then I really wanted to do another location in an area where I knew we’d be more visible. OB just made sense since I lived and worked there most of my adult life. Well OB really took off and rooted us in the neighborhood and it’s been a wild ride. This is the short version but I was just a girl with a dream, lots of barista experience and not a lot of money(lived in my van to stay afloat) and now we have 2 locations, a full roasting and wholesale roasting company, a small separate retail spot and who knows what’s yet to come. I’m grateful for San Diego’s love for us. That people support us. We don’t always get the online “best coffeeshop” love I think we/our staff deserve but we know who we are and we know that our core community keep us thriving and pushing to continue to do our best. Thanks you so much for giving our shops love ❤️ 🌞🫱🏼‍🫲🏽we love you SD + beyond
