Athens Market Taverna is a Greek and European restaurant, located in the elegant Marina District of downtown San Diego. The restaurant which has been consistently voted the best Mediterranean cuisine in San Diego for over thirty years, specializes in delicious entrées including Grilled baby Octopus, Flaming Cheese and traditional items like Moussaka. It also boasts of three unique and separate dining rooms, including a full bar, which can cater to any event. Established in 1974, Athens Market Taverna was initially a tiny market but slowly became a restaurant thanks to customers who enjoyed eating their authentic Greek cuisine in the presence of Mary's entertaining and hospitable personality. Today, it has a capacity of 200+, is one of downtown's longest-running award-winning restaurants and still maintains its reputation as one of the best Greek restaurants in town.
