From two guys who couldn’t stand the corporate grind… to opening our own place.
This whole thing started as a couple conversations, just us wanting something different—more freedom, more purpose, more us. No suits, no rules, just a vision we couldn’t shake.
We seriously wouldn’t be here without all the love you’ve shown. Every message, every repost, every person who’s walked through the door or believed in us before this was even real—it means everything. We don’t take any of it lightly.
This isn’t just our shop, it’s a community. Built by the people who supported us, shaped us, and believed in us when it was just an idea.
That’s why we’re starting a new series, highlighting the people who’ve been part of this journey. The ones who helped build us, stood by us, and continue to make this community what it is.Pull up, grab a coffee, try our juicy shawarma and kick it with us. We’re just getting started.

We didn’t just bring you recipes from back home.
We brought stories. Parents who started over. Suitcases full of photos. Accents that never left.
Not just from the Arab world. But from Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
When ICE tries to upend someone else’s immigrant story, remember, the food you love comes from somewhere. So do we.

You don’t choose the family you’re born into, but you can choose the people that become a part of your family. Omar is one of those people - less friend, more brother.
Through the ups and downs of life. From when we were kids, to the first day Tahini and Finjan opened their doors, until now. Always around, always supporting.
If you’ve spent time in our space, you’ve probable seen him. Another customer in the eyes of many, but a special place in ours.
These photos are from long before any of this. We wouldn’t be here without people like Omar, the people who stood by from day one.
Now that we’ve put Omar on blast, feel free to say what’s up to him and also wish him a belated Happy Birthday!

You had to be there to get it.

This didn’t happen by luck.
Since day one, the turnout, the love, and the support have been loud and we don’t take a second of it lightly. What we’ve built so far stands on brotherhood, grit, and showing up even when it wasn’t easy. None of this exists without that foundation.
To our staff: you’re the backbone. The late nights, early mornings, pressure, and pride, you carry this place every single day. And to our customers: you didn’t just support a business, you backed a vision. You believed, you pulled up, you spread the word, and you made this place what it is.
This is more than four walls and a name. It’s community, loyalty, and hard work colliding. We’re grateful, we’re grounded, and we’re just getting started. Respect to everyone who’s been part of the climb — this is ours, all of us.

What people say
Halal restaurants are known for their authentic Middle Eastern cuisine, and Tahini on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard in San Diego is no exception. This halal restaurant serves up some of the best Middle Eastern street food in town. The steak shawarma is a must-try, especially when paired with their Nitro Moroccan Mint Tea. And if you're a fan of fries, Terry Crews himself recommends trying theirs. But it's not just the food that makes Tahini special - it's the people behind it. Dacia, who manages the bakery and prep department, adds an extra dash of love to everything she makes. And if you're not sure what to order, take their pro tip and try everything on the menu. So head over to Tahini for a delicious meal and some genuine hospitality - they'll be sure to serve you up a smile with your shawarma or falafel wrap!
