So a few months ago, we knocked this wall down that separated us from our lil sibling loveletterspizza_sd. Seems like every day people are like whoaaaa what!?
Love Letters is our lil neighborhood Italian-American joint. Meatballs, pasta, pizza, cannoli. Keeping it seasonal & thoughtful.
It’s also been fun for us at scrim to find new regulars via love letters.
I think what’s the best though, is giving our neighbors another reason to come out to the Boulevard.

Nine years of Scrim, to the day.
I remember the morning we opened, we were still hanging lighting, hadn’t even tested our point of sale system, & forgot to grab extra cash haha.
9 years later, things look very different, & yet we’re still scrambling to figure out the details. Still have an insatiable quench to bring cool things to our neighborhood. And still are humbled by you all coming in day after day.

WE ARE HIRING! We’re hiring asap for our back of house, someone to help with prep, our morning & afternoon menus, and our weekend brunch!
We’re looking for someone who’s got some BOH experience, but it’s not necessarily required. Someone who’s down to work 28+ hours/week with mornings & weekends being required, andddd someone who loves human beings.
You’ll be makin the best bagel & sandos in the cafe game, and on weekends slingin’ breakfast burritos. And you can sneak in some matcha in between!
We’re starting at $18/hr, averaging like $8-10/hr in tips!

🚨WE INTERRUPT YOUR FEED TO BRING SOME BREAKING NEWS!🚨
So the baristas that opened Scrimmy weren’t just obsessed with coffee when we opened back in 2017 (9 years ago this week!) We were and still are obsessed with hospitality & bringing people together.
Since then, we’ve opened a neighborhood beer bar with a scratch kitchen, (MAJORETTE) and our american-Italian concept right next door, loveletterspizza_sd.
And this weekend, we jumped fully into another. We’ve taken over the kitchen at Bock - A Neighborhood Bar 🐐, voted best new bar by the people & San Diego magazine. It’s a 21+ beer bar focusing on old world classics, local beer & alpine wine. And now, some greaaaat food.
This was not on the agenda for 2026, but when opportunities knock, they’re often really hard to ignore. And when they align on things like great product, cool environments, and a genuine love for people & communities they’re in, it’s even more difficult.
There’s a lot comin’ down the pike over the next few weeks in regards to what this will look like long term, but in the mean time, we’re slingin’ the favs from MAJORETTE & some other German classics.

roasted chicken / pesto-ey mayo / sundried tomatos / arugula on a ciabatta
it’s a lil more substantial but daaang it’s delish. great lil summer afternoon park sandwich if you ask us ;)
