Well I’ve put this off long enough....
It’s with extremely mixed emotions I tell you Gordy’s will have new owners beginning February 1.
The new owners, Bill and Elena are great, you’ll like them. Change is always difficult so Ellen and I will be staying for a while to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

Few people get the opportunity to achieve a life long dream like I did. To have a fun coffeehouse and bakery serving good drinks, good food, good service with an overall good experience. We have made so many friends many who we now consider family. There is so much to say and so many to thank. I will just say thank you to all of you reading this, you have helped to make Gordy’s what it is today.

Well it’s been quite a year so far and since Aunt Edna and Uncle Ernie won’t be coming for Thanksgiving this year, we’ve decided to stay open for the Holiday.
Gordy’s will be open Thanksgiving day 7am to 1pm
So if you’re looking for something to get you out of the house come say Hi!
remember to wear a mask.

Mum, I’m hungry and there’s nothing to eat. Don’t be daft she said, the fridge is full of food.
Now telling a thirteen year old that wheat germ, yogurt and tigers milk bars are food falls on deaf ears. I was thinking more along the lines of Captain Crunch, Ding Dongs and Hi-C. What was I to do? I saw on the oatmeal box there was a recipe for oatmeal cookies .... and so began my cooking career.

Now I have formal training and have had many adventures and misadventures over the past forty some odd years but nothing has compared to my current escapade “Gordy’s Bakery”

Today we are 10 years old and in that time Ellen and I have tried to provide good coffee, good food, good service, and a good experience. I know there have been glitches hiccups, fire, flood and a virus along the way but for the most part I think we’ve done a pretty good job. We’re still here and we’re still standing. The real reason we’ve made it is because of you our customers. Your support and friendship along the way has helped to create who we are today - A very heartfelt thank you to you all from us.

Who knows what tomorrow may bring but for today we say Happy Birthday

We’re following all the rules and ask you to help us out by doing the same.

Please bear with us while we work out the kinks on running the bakery this strange new way. I’m not very hip nor up to date on apps and digital things so ordering is either walk up or call to pick up at the counter and it’s all to go. We are Gordy’s after all, we like to keep it simple. (and of course, Safe)

- Take the bus or train to Encinitas Station
- Walk to the bus stop on South Coast Highway and take either Bus 101 or Bus 444 towards San Diego
- Get off at Encinitas Blvd and walk east for 0.2 miles

By Car:
- From I-5, take exit 40A towards Encinitas Blvd
- Turn left onto Encinitas Blvd and continue for 1 mile
- The destination will be on your right

Parking:
- There is limited street parking available on Encinitas Blvd
- Alternatively, there is a public parking lot located behind the shops on the south side of Encinitas Blvd, accessed via C St.
