Did you know…….Coffee beans don’t start brown ☕️🌱
Coffee cherries change color as they ripen. Green when unripe, bright red at peak ripeness (the sweetest!), and sometimes yellow or even deep purple depending on the variety.
Inside each cherry are the beans, which begin green and turn brown only after roasting. The roast level, and those beautiful shades of brown, come from time, heat, and careful attention to detail.

Fresh batch of Purple Kiss Espresso 💋 💜
Popping, bright flavor. Purple Kiss has a thick, deep amber crema and is awesome alone but also stands out in a latte 👌

It’s National Espresso Day! ☕️
Espresso has been fueling conversation, creativity, and connection since 1901, when the first espresso machine was created in Italy. Over a century later, we’re still obsessed with that rich crema and intense flavor packed into a single shot. Cheers to 120+ years of espresso magic! 🤎✨

What is cupping and why do we do it?
Cupping is the professional method roasters use to taste and evaluate coffee. It’s how we check for flavor clarity, sweetness, balance, aroma, and any defects. Think of it as a deep dive into a coffee’s personality — its story, its origin, and its potential.
Because quality matters. Because small-batch organic roasting deserves intention. And because we want every bag you brew at home to taste the way it was meant to: vibrant, clean, and full of life.

From the mountains of Colombia 🇨🇴 to the lush hills of Costa Rica 🇨🇷our journey to the source reminds us why we fell in love with coffee in the first place. 🌱
At TLC Roasters, we believe great coffee starts long before it reaches the roaster. Meeting the farmers, walking the fields, and seeing the care that goes into every cherry inspires us to honor their work through small-batch, organic roasting back home in La Jolla, CA.
Every cup tells a story….of soil, sun, and the hands that nurture it. ❤️

☕ Why Fresh Coffee Matters
At TLC Roasters, every bean we serve is never more than a week old — and that’s on purpose. Freshness isn’t just a luxury — it’s the key to flavor, aroma, and quality.
Here’s why 👇
✨ 1. Flavor peaks right after roasting.
Freshly roasted coffee releases carbon dioxide for about 7–10 days — a process called degassing. During this time, the coffee’s natural oils and aromatic compounds are at their most vibrant.
🌿 2. Old coffee loses its soul.
After a week or two, those delicate oils begin to oxidize, leading to flat, stale flavors. The bright notes fade, leaving bitterness behind.
🔥 3. Small batch = more control.
We roast in small, intentional batches, so we can ensure each bag and every cup highlights the bean’s unique origin, roast profile, and freshness.
At TLC Roasters, your coffee isn’t sitting on a shelf — it’s alive, aromatic, and ready to be enjoyed.
