October marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Black Angus Steakhouse is proud to partner with Bacardi and the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) to raise money for this important cause.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States - 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime with 95% occuring in women 40 and older. Chances are, if you haven't been directly impacted by this disease someone close to you has.

For the whole month we will be featuring a Pink Pomegranate Punch - a refreshing rum based cocktail, the pomegranate is on display with just a hint of orange and a sugared rosemary garnish to give that perfect fall flavor. If that isn't enough to get you on board, for every Pink Pomegranate Punch sold during the month of October, $1.00 will be donated to the NBCC!

We're dusting off our boots and coming back with not one, but TWO Employee Spotlights! ✨

First up, from our Front of the House Team, meet Berenice & Giselle!
Berenice started as a host in 2019 and has since worked her way up to being a food server, cultivating a ton of repeat guests that love to come see her and always request her. She assists with new server training and will often work events or large parties, so don't be surprised to see her when you book your next big reservation! Management consistently receives positive feedback from her guests who will go out of their way to make sure she is getting the recognition she (rightly!) deserves. During Berenice's free time she loves to check out new restaurants/speakeasies around San Diego and spending time with her dog Storm ⛈
Giselle has also been with us since 2019 and although she did leave for a bit to pursue another adventure, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome her back to our team. Giselle currently is our lead food expediter and trainer, hostess trainer, and occasional busser. Keep your eye out for her on the floor though, as she is on her way to becoming a server! Not afraid of working hard, Giselle will cover other peoples' shifts if needed and always comes to work with an upbeat attitude. When away from Black Angus, she is either doing nails, taking a nap or at the dog park with her dog Milo 💅

Next up, from our Heart of the House team, meet Jessie & Catalina!
Jessie has been with us as one of our dishwashers since April 2023. Jessie is always on time and has a great attitude, which isn't always easy when you're doing dishes all night! He always makes sure to do extra cleaning and stays longer to make sure the dish area is as clean as can be. Another hard worker, when he's not at Black Angus he has another full time job! When he does get a moment of free time, you can find him at the beach, working out at the gym, or watching a Chivas soccer game ⚽️
Catalina has been with Black Angus since June of 2021 as one of our morning prep cooks, meaning she helps prep all the food each morning that our guests enjoy every night! Catalina, also known as Cat, is always eager to work and will pick up any shifts if our Chef needs an extra hand. She always comes in with a great attitude and is always on time. When Catalina isn’t here at work, she is at home spending time with her kids. Fun fact about Catalina is she is from Guatemala! 🇬🇹 Catalina hopes to be living back in Guatemala within the next 3 to 4 years in time to celebrate her eldest's quinceanera!

Be sure to check back on the third Friday of next month as we will be featuring two more of our amazing team members! Don't be shy if you see Berenice, Giselle, Jessie, or Catalina in the restaurant - we always welcome new friends around our campfire🔥
