With great regret, I have to announce that Grateful Dave's will not be open this Summer. With the passing of my Father, construction, and a new teaching contract, I just haven't had the time or creativity to put a menu together.
I would never say that Grateful Dave's is done, but it is going to be put on the shelf for a little while.
I hope you all know how much you are appreciated. I started Grateful Dave's at a pretty low time in my life. I had just quit drinking, the pandemic started, and I messed up my SDSU application and had to wait a year to get in again. Out of that mess, I started something that would change my attitude on life and that is all because of you.
Thank you so much. You all have changed my life.

I really wanted to have a menu this month, but alas, life is getting in the way. I'll keep you all posted on a new date.

Egg prices are finally getting reasonable so it might be about time to start making some ice cream. I want to take my time with this menu, so it won't be happening right away, BUT I will get it together before the end of the month.
As far as the future of Grateful Dave's Ice Cream, there is some debate about what to do next. I am waiting to see if I get a teaching contract for next year, but I also am starting to look at turning Grateful Dave's into an actual business. The first step will be to move the ice cream factory out of the home and into an actual commercial kitchen. There are several ways for me to do this. Version #1 consists of getting a kitchen without a storefront and sell at farmers markets and whatnot. Version #2 is a storefront which would be more expensive. Honestly, I haven't had the capital to think about this stuff much, so this will take time and debate.

Sorry it's been so quiet. Right after Xmas break I got a long term sub job for a wonderful 2nd grade class. I have been solely devoted to learning the teaching craft, therefore ice cream has been on the back burner. I will be open in June at the latest, so keep an eye out for more info.
